Cotey Pope (they/them) is a Canadian multidisciplinary artist, actor, set designer and photographer.
Growing up in the Niagara region they were interested in art, performance and music from a young age and how to create community in spaces with few resources. Moving to Toronto to study Theatre at York
(Acting & Set Design) they went on to receive their degree in Sculpture and Integrated Media from OCADU with a focus on performance art, filmmaking, sculpture and painting.
Their art practice investigates ideas of institutional critique, comedy, memory and questioning systems of power while exploring class, disorder, and queer identity.
Their work has been exhibited at: Toronto International Film festival, Toronto Biennial of Art, XPACE, Gallery 1313, CBC arts, C Magazine, Contact Photography Festival, Life of a Craphead’s “DOORED”, and LA contemporary archive.
Working professionally in film and television since 2016 they have worked in set design, assistant directing, scenic, and camera department on various shows including: Milf Manor (TLC), Hell of a Summer (Dir. Finn Wolfhard/ Billy Bryk), Designated Survivor (Netflix), ShadowHunters (Netflix), The Boys (Amazon)
and MayDay Air Crash Investigations

Cotey’s photography practice includes documenting local artists, filmmakers, musicians, and fashion shows. Their photo work has been used on covers and videos for bands: Kiwi Junior, Le Ren, Cayley Thomas, and Heaven for Real.
Cotey identifies as non-binary, trans and pansexual and is an advocate in promoting works by LGBTQ2S+ artists and communities.
